Granite

An igneous rock composed mainly of quartz and feldspar. It is coarse-grained and has an even, visible crystalline formation and texture. Granite solidifies, under pressure, from magma that cools slowly beneath the earth's crust. It is exposed at the earth's surface by the erosion of overlying rocks or by crustal movement. Some granites are the oldest known rocks on earth. Granite has a greater strength that marble, limestone and sandstone. It has been used as a building material since ancient times; as granites are extremely resistant to weathering.

Granite is making a "come back" into the building industry, as it proves to add everlasting beauty to any home. It is more durable than man-made materials, and its look cannot be duplicated. Granite can be used for both interior and exterior projects. Granite is the number one choice for kitchen countertops, as it is most resistant to scratches, stains, and extreme temperatures.
